Recruitment and Selection Process
Introduction
Two essential components of the employment process that help businesses locate and draw in the greatest talent are recruitment and selection. Getting a job description in front of as many individuals as you can is part of the recruitment process. The process of selection entails whitening down the candidate pool till the ideal candidate remains.
What is Recruitment
“Recruitment is a discovering of potential
applicants for actual or anticipated organizational vacancies. Or from another perspective,
it can be looked at the linking activity bringing together those with jobs and
those seeking jobs”. (William B. Werther and Keith Davis)
What is Selection
“The Selection is the process of choosing the most
suitable candidate for the vacant position in the organization. In other words,
selection means weeding out unsuitable applicants and selecting those
individuals with prerequisite qualifications and capabilities to fill the jobs
in the organization”. (Business Jargons)

The process of finding and selecting the best applicant for a post is known as selection, while recruitment is the act of drawing in suitable individuals. Every worker's efforts are essential to the upkeep and expansion of a business. Consequently, it is crucial to choose the best candidate for the position. Similar to how a square peg cannot fit into a round hole, a poor hire can have an impact on the business's performance as a whole. A well-designed procedure exhibits the professionalism of the business and shows that it is mature enough to draw in and choose the best candidates. A well-functioning procedure facilitates the proactive development of a talent pipeline, which aids in the accomplishment of short- and long-term corporate goals.
Hiring new personnel can be expensive both financially and in terms of time, as it includes numerous parties, including senior corporate personnel. Because of this, it's critical to make sure the process is clear and tailored to satisfy the requirements of all parties involved.

Defining Requirements
This step involves creating the person specifications, or the knowledge, abilities, and attitudes needed to perform the job to the best of one's ability, as well as deciding on the terms and conditions of employment. The role for the job is typically defined as the job description.
Planning Campaigns
A recruitment campaign is the deliberate, planned, and proactive process of identifying, attracting, and developing a pool of skilled individuals who can successfully and efficiently support the business's activities.
Attracting Candidates
The following stage, after the pool is prepared, is to identify the individuals who best fit the job requirements by going over and assessing other sources of applicants, both inside and outside the organization, such as advertising, e-recruiting, agencies, and consultants. The key to attracting candidates is to locate, assess, and make use of the best possible applicant sources.
Selecting
Candidate
Examining applications, doing interviews, administering tests, evaluating applicants at assessment centers, making an employment offer, contacting references, and creating employment contracts. The goal of the candidate selection process is to identify qualified individuals who can successfully perform the tasks that have been allocated.
